Caitlyn Jenner faces backlash for slamming Nike’s partnership with trans TikTok star

So, what’s the deal with Caitlyn Jenner slamming Nike for partnering with trans TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney? Apparently, it’s an outrage. Or so Jenner tweeted, accusing the brand of “trying to erase women” by promoting sports bras with someone who doesn’t yet have a “mass majority” to fill them. Just a reminder, Jenner herself was the face of H&M Sport in 2016, a year after she transitioned, and praised sportswear as a great way to create understanding and bring about inclusivity. Can we say double standards?

But it’s not just Jenner’s contradictory opinions that are turning heads. Twitter users are divided on the subject, with some calling the situation an overreaction while others are applauding Jenner for standing up for women. Despite the controversy, Mulvaney seems unfazed, focusing on spreading joy and trans acceptance through her partnerships with Nike, Bud Light, and a number of other brands.

With all this hullabaloo over a TikTok star wearing a sports bra, one can’t help but wonder if we’re focusing on the wrong issue here. Let’s not forget that the point of inclusivity is to embrace people from all walks of life and make everyone feel accepted – so why not celebrate the diversity in our ads, sports bras and all?
