Tennessee Titans Sign Jeffery Simmons to Four-Year, $94 Million Contract Extension

Calling all Tennessee Titans fans! Are you ready for some seriously good news? You’re gonna love this: the Titans have reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension with the one and only Jeffery Simmons, aka one of the NFL’s best young defensive linemen.

Not to sound dramatic, but can you say #blessed?

According to the fabulous peeps at ESPN, this beast of a contract is worth a cool $94 million. Simmons, who’s been rocking the Pro Bowl and Second Team AP All-Pro honors for the last couple of years, is now officially the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in football. Looks like our boy Aaron Donald has got some competition.

But hold up, let’s back up for a second here. For those of you who may not be in the know, Simmons has been crushing it on the Titans’ D-line for the past four seasons. With 21 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 19 pass breakups, and 46 quarterback hits under his belt, it’s safe to say that this extension was well-earned.

Just before the contract news dropped, Simmons took to Twitter to thank Titans fans for their support over the last four years. But, in true Simmons style, he also made sure to let us know that he’s not done yet. Does anyone else feel a shiver of excitement down their spine, or is it just me?

This massive deal follows the Titans’ offseason of clearing salary cap space by releasing some pricy veterans, making this extension even more significant. Simmons is the first Titans first-round pick to earn a contract extension since Taylor Lewan back in 2014. Talk about being in good company.

With Simmons locked down for another four years, it’s safe to say that the Titans’ future is looking pretty bright. So gear up, Titans fans, because it looks like our defensive force is here to stay. Now let’s get ready for an epic season, shall we?
