Mike Trout hits historic 901st RBI with two-run home run in Angels’ home opener, but team falls to Blue Jays 4-3.

If you thought the atmosphere at Angel Stadium was electric before, Mike Trout sent the crowd into a frenzy when he crushed a two-run home run to start the game for the Angels. Unfortunately, the thrill of Trout’s homer didn’t last, as the Angels ultimately fell to the Toronto Blue Jays in their home opener, 4-3.

It all went downhill in the seventh inning when reliever Jimmy Herget surrendered a devastating three-run home run to Bo Bichette. “It’s just how baseball is sometimes,” Herget said, reflecting on the pitch that cost his team the game. “It was the wrong pitch, wrong time, and unfortunately we lost the game because of it.”

Despite the crushing loss, there were some highlights in the game, such as Mike Trout’s historic achievement. Trout’s two-run blast marked his 900th and 901st career RBIs, making him only the third Angels player to surpass 900 RBIs, along with Garret Anderson (1,292) and Tim Salmon (1,016). His momentous homer also backed up a solid six innings of one-run ball pitched by Patrick Sandoval.

Other standout plays included Trout’s catch at the warning track in the sixth and Gio Urshela’s incredible throw from third base to get the final out of the top of the fifth. But alas, these individual heroics couldn’t prevent the team’s defeat at the hands of the Blue Jays.

As Angels fans wipe away their tears and prepare for the next game, one thing’s for sure – they can still expect jaw-dropping moments from their favorite players like Mike Trout. Now, if only the rest of the team could follow suit and secure a victory. Fingers crossed, right?
