Kyle Larson Takes Pole Position and Makes History in NASCAR Cup Series Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway

Kyle Larson is kickin’ up some dust and making history in the NASCAR Cup Series dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Starting sixth in the third heat race, Larson swiftly took the lead and drove the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 all the way to the pole position. This is Larson’s second pole of the season and the 243rd for Hendrick Motorsports.

But Larson isn’t just tearing up the track for Hendrick Motorsports, he’s making a name for himself in the world of dirt racing. The 30-year-old has worked his way up from the dirt racing ranks, clinching victories in some of the most prestigious dirt races such as the Chili Bowl, Kings Royal, Prairie Dirt Classic, and the Knoxville Nationals. And if that’s not enough, Larson also conquered the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series dirt race at Eldora Speedway in 2016.

Fellow Hendrick Motorsports drivers also qualified well, with William Byron starting 10th in the No. 24 RaptorTough.com Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and Alex Bowman set to line up 17th in the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. And let’s not forget Josh Berry, who’ll be starting 31st in the No. 9 Hooters Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, as he fills in for the injured Chase Elliott.

The Bristol dirt race is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience in the NASCAR Cup Series, and it’s clear that Larson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammates are ready to dominate.
