Stone Garrett Shines in Nats’ Nail-Biting Victory over Rockies

Hold on to your hats, folks! Stone Garrett had a breakout performance that has us all wondering what on earth is in the water at Nationals Park. Just when we thought he might have been overshadowed by the impressive Alex Call, Garrett went ahead and pulled off a 4-for-5, five-RBI masterpiece, leading the Nats to a nail-biting 7-6 victory over the Rockies.

Now, that’s the kind of underdog story we can’t help but root for! With a whopping nine total bases, a three-run homer, two doubles, and a single, Garrett pretty much stole the show at Coors Field. Looks like manager Davey Martinez’s gamble on batting Garrett second paid off – big time!

But let’s not forget about the rest of the squad. Trevor Williams gave us a strong start, allowing only two runs over 5 1/3 innings, while Alex Call stayed in the spotlight with two more hits out of the leadoff spot. And shoutout to CJ Abrams, Victor Robles, Hunter Harvey, Mason Thompson, and Kyle Finnegan for their contributions to this heart-pounding victory.

Things got a bit hairy when Carl Edwards Jr. almost lost the game for us in the ninth inning, but he managed to pull it together just in time, striking out Kris Bryant and clinching an unexpected save. Talk about keeping us on the edge of our seats!

We’ve always known that Garrett had some serious power potential, as evidenced by his 53 combined homers in Double-A and Triple-A in 2021-22 and four more with the Diamondbacks last season. But the big question mark has always been whether he could overcome his struggles against breaking balls.

Well, he certainly made a statement tonight, connecting on a curveball for a monster 432-foot homer, and following up with a single on a changeup and a double on a slider. If this performance is any indication, Garrett might just be on track to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the major leagues.

As for Williams, he did his part to ensure the team’s success, efficiently working his way through the Rockies’ lineup and giving his all in his first win of the season. No flashy moves necessary – just good, old-fashioned grit and determination.

So what’s next for the Nats and their newfound star Garrett? Only time will tell, but if this game is any indication, we’re in for a wild and thrilling ride. Let’s go Nats!
