Oh, Swifty fans, grab your tissues and prepare yourselves for another emotional album. That’s right, Taylor Swift and her hunky English boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, have called it quits after six long years together. Could this be the end of an era?
Our girl Tay is currently wowing the crowds with her incredible sold-out Eras tour, and as any dedicated Swiftie will know, Joe hasn’t been spotted in the audience. Is this absence the first clue of their breakup? Entertainment Tonight thinks so and was first to break the news. Are we surprised? Yes. Are we shocked? Also, yes.
Now, as we all know, Taylor and Joe have been the ultimate private couple over the years. They’ve played their cards closer to the chest than any celebrity duo we’ve seen before, and we’ve all had to make do with the odd adorable photo here and there. These two have been so secretive that Joe, 32, even joked about the constant engagement rumors to WSJ Magazine: “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins.”
To add fuel to the fire, Joe even played coy about the possibility of marrying the 33-year-old Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, stating, “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.” Come on, Joe, throw us a bone here!
Their relationship kicked off back in 2016, and sources have said that Taylor has been “very happy” with the Boy Erased actor. Described as her “rock,” their relationship was “mature and wonderful,” according to insiders. So, what could’ve caused the seemingly perfect couple to part ways? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Taylor pens another heart-wrenching ballad for us to cry to.
In the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for belting out her classics like “All Too Well” and “Back to December,” while holding our lighters high and praying for another beautiful celebrity love story to emerge.
