Quinnipiac Men’s Ice Hockey Team Shines in NCAA Frozen Four Championship with Governor’s Support

What do you get when you combine the ice hockey championship, a quirky forward, an excited governor, and a college team named after a feline? Pure, unadulterated excitement and school pride, of course! Our heroes in the Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey team played for the NCAA Frozen Four championship against Minnesota last Saturday, and they brought the heat to the rink in Tampa, Fla.

One of the main highlights of the game was the stunning performance by our very own Quinnipiac forward Cristophe Tellier (29), who scored past Minnesota goaltender Justen Close during the second period. Let’s face it; we all know that if Cristophe were a character in an ’80s coming-of-age film, he’d be the lovable jock who wins both the big game and the hearts of his classmates. In this story, he’s the young hockey star who’s made the entire university proud.

As if the players’ outstanding efforts weren’t enough, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont made a special appearance in Tampa to show his support for our ice hockey heroes. Having just attended the championship parade and rally for UConn’s NCAA men’s basketball champions in Hartford earlier on Saturday, Lamont was ready to continue the celebration with our very own Bobcats. His excitement was so contagious that he even retweeted the Bobcats hockey account at 7:30 p.m., proclaiming, “Excited for tonight’s championship game! Let’s go @QU_MIH!!”

Seriously, with a tweet like that, who wouldn’t feel the pressure to win?! But if there’s anything we know about our Bobcats, it’s that they thrive under pressure. Whether it’s acing a tough exam or scoring a winning goal, they always come out on top.

The NCAA Frozen Four championship game has been a thrilling ride, and with the added excitement of a famous spectator like Governor Lamont, it’s clear that our Bobcats have the support of the entire state behind them. The way we see it, this fantastic game is further proof that Quinnipiac is the best place for passionate sports lovers and die-hard college pride.

So, grab your hockey jerseys, put on your Bobcat pride, and celebrate the epic achievements of our beloved ice hockey team. With players like Cristophe Tellier and the enthusiastic support from the likes of Governor Lamont, there’s no telling what heights these cool cats can reach. Go, Bobcats!
