Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal Retires from UFC After Gruesome Fight Against Gilbert Burns

Well, folks, it’s a sad day for fans of flying knees and smack talk because our very own Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal has decided to hang up his gloves. That’s right, the man who made Miami proud and terrified his opponents in equal measure is retiring after a grueling match against Gilbert Burns in the UFC Miami Co-Main Event.

And let me tell you, Burns wasn’t playing around! For three intense rounds, he dominated Masvidal in every possible way – on their feet, grappling, and on the ground. It’s like Burns had an answer for every question Gamebred tried to ask. We all kind of knew this was how the fight was going to play out, but that didn’t stop us from holding out hope. After all, this is the same dude who swaggered into the arena to the tune of Scarface! How can you not love him?

But Masvidal, ever the man of his word, announced his retirement after the fight. He told the crowd that sometimes your favorite basketball player just loses their touch, and he feels the same way about stepping into the cage these days. The man even shouted out his love for Donald Trump, Ron Desantis, and started a “LET’S GO BRANDON” chant as he exited the cage for the last time.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t this just another one of those MMA retirements that never really stick?” And you might be right! After all, there are still so many fights left in Masvidal’s tank. But for now, it looks like he’s walking away from the sport that turned him into a legend.

As we say our goodbyes to Masvidal, we can’t help but remember his meteoric rise to fame and that unbelievable flying knee knockout over Ben Askren. You know the one – it’s probably been on your Instagram feed at least 700 times. We’ve been incredibly lucky to watch such a legendary athlete in action, and his retirement is undoubtedly leaving a void in the UFC world.

So here’s to Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal – thank you for the years of blood, sweat, and one-liners. Enjoy your retirement, and remember, the MMA world is never quite the same without you.
