Hold onto your lightsabers, Star Wars fans, because things are about to get wild in a galaxy far, far away! The recent Star Wars Celebration 2023 unleashed a whirlwind of exciting announcements, including – you guessed it – THREE new live-action Star Wars films!

First up, we had Andor Season 2 and the first Ahsoka trailer, which was more than enough to send fans into a frenzy. But when Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy stepped onto the stage and casually mentioned the upcoming films, it was like a seismic charge going off in the crowd. She then proceeded to introduce the talented trio of directors behind these projects: James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Mangold, known for Logan and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, will take us waaay back in time to the origin of the Jedi, which is honestly perfect for his gritty storytelling style. Filoni, who practically owns Disney+ with The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Book of Boba Fett under his belt, will use his movie to tie up all the loose ends and interconnected stories he’s been weaving through these series.

But it was the revelation about Obaid-Chinoy’s film that caused the biggest disturbance in the Force: Jedi Master Rey is coming back, baby! That’s right, Daisy Ridley herself will be reprising her role as Rey in a story set after the events of Rise of Skywalker, where she’ll be establishing the New Jedi Order. Ridley joined the directors on stage, looking as ready to take on the universe as ever.

With this epic trio of films spanning different eras in the Star Wars universe, it’s a great time to be a fan. Whether you’re rooting for the dawn of the Jedi, eager for closure on the Disney+ series sagas, or itching for more of Rey’s adventures, there’s something here for everyone.
